Spinach, Rice & Curd Puree - Little Mashies Reusable Pouches


8 oz rice 
1/3 quart of home made broth or water
8 oz of spinach
2 oz of curd (or cottage cheese)

Step 1: In a small saucepan, over medium heat, combine rice with broth and cook for about 15 minutes, or until rice is soft. Add additional broth or water to keep mixture moist whilst cooking. Add in spinach and cook for further 5 minutes, do not let the pan dry out.

Step 2: Strain out excess water with a fine mesh strainer. Stir through curd or cottage cheese.

Step 3: Puree the spinach, rice and curd in a food processor or blender, or for older babies leave as a chunky puree.

I Love To Save Money With Little Mashies

Why is curd a great baby food choice?

Curd is the product of bacterial fermentation of milk and it is good to use for babies who are lactose intolerant, as during the fermentation lactose is converted to lactic acid and is then easier to digest. Along with all nutrients from the milk, curd is rich in good bacteria that strengthen the immune system. It also has beneficial enzymes to help with digestion.


For Older Kids

For older kids you could try making this in an oven safe dish with a crumble on top... omg delicious! This porridge is also fine to serve and freeze inside Little Mashies squeeze containers.
