Cauliflower And Brocolli Baby Porridge - Little Mashies Reusable Pouches


16 oz of fresh broccoli (1 lb)
16 oz of fresh cauliflower (1 lb)
1 garlic clove (optional)

Step 1: Cut broccoli and cauliflower florets into small pieces.

Step 2: Steam the broccoli, garlic and cauliflower in a stovetop steamer or a Beaba Baby Cook system for about 8 minutes or until soft.

Step 3: Puree ingredients in a food processor or blender, adding a little of the cooking liquid (or water) if needed to make it smooth. For older babies simply mash ingredients together.

Note: This is great to freeze in portions so that you can always have vegetable puree on hand.

My Kids Love Eating Out of Them

Why is cauliflower a great baby food choice?

Ohhhh trees with snow! Cauliflower will provide your baby with vitamin A, vitamin C and antioxidants which help protect from some serious diseases and supports a healthy heart. Cauli is also rich in calcium, but mostly in the green leaves, so you should include them when making your homemade broth or in stir fry, bologanise sauces etc. Cauliflower can be mashed with leek and used instead of mashed potato, it can be put in the food processor and cut like rice, or the flowers can be baked in the oven and used with dips or as a finger food for older babies. When you are introducing solids to babies the foods don't need to just be boiled, keep it interesting and use different ways to prepare them. Bake, steam, boil, fry (with coconut oil or water), puree, mash.. there are so many options and opportunities to shape the way your kids view food!
